How to create a Pinterest Account For Free | Techvaccine

1. Choose your topic of interest
Select topics of interest
Once you sign in to use Twitter or Facebook, you will be presented with a visual grid of 28 topics. You will be asked to choose topics of your interest, so that Pinterest can give you better suggestions as to which one you should follow.

Select some topics, then click the "Follow people" button at the bottom of the page. You will then see some static, non-clickable images of people (and their boards) that you are following, based on a selection of topics you have created.

2. Create the board
Create your first pinboard
Next, you'll be given a default selection of pinboards (or "boards") to choose from, such as "Products I like," "For Home" and more. You can also click the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen to add your own board with a custom name of your choosing. These boards represent subjects that you can "pin" to pictures.

You can make as many or as many boards as you want. You can also edit the titles of the boards that you have created or remove them completely. Allow others to contribute to your boards by clicking the "Edit" button below your board. Next, find the option "Who can pin?" And change the setting from "Me Me" to "Me + Contributors". You must follow at least one board related to a Pinterest member to add him or her as a contributor to your boards.

3. Install the "Pin It" button and start pinning

When you have created some boards, you will be directed to a page where you can install a bookmarklet called "Pin It" in your browser. The Pin It button is installed on your browser's bookmarks bar so that when you find a picture on a website that you want to pin on one of your boards, you just click the button. The Pinterest application will open, showing you a grid of thumbnails of all images available on the website.

When you scroll your mouse over any image, click the "Pin This" button to pin the image to your board. A pop-up window will open and you can select the board you want to pin the image from the drop down menu of boards created in Pinterest. Select the appropriate board, describe the image (it is mandatory) and click on the red "Pin It" button. Another pop-up window will open, which confirms your successful PIN and gives you the option to "View your PIN", "Tweet your PIN" or "Share on Facebook".

Pinterest takes care to attribute the sources of the images, and every pinned image has an embedded, clickable link that goes back to the original website where it came from.

4. Get Social
Find other members

Once you have created some boards and you have a bunch of images pinned to them, you can start the process of searching, connecting and sharing with other Pinterest members.

You will find a search bar in the top left corner of the Pinterest home page. Type the keyword you are interested in searching and click the Enter key. You can refine your searches by selecting "Pin," "Board," or "People". Once you see some interesting matches, you can follow individual boards, or any board member you want, you can follow all the boards. A board places it on your Pinterest homepage so that you can visit and interact with the board at any time with any updates to it.

You can "like" a personal image (or "pin") using Pinterest's own Like button, or you can like it with the Facebook Like button on the side of the pin page. You can tweet pins to your followers, email a link to your friends, and even "repin" one of your own boards. Anyone familiar with other social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook should have no problem finding their way, and most of all, stay out of Pinterest at some point.

Looking at the buzz making this platform, Pinterest seems to hit on a winning formula; It combines the popularity of images with social sharing. As more and more people are becoming aware of this platform, the membership base is growing rapidly, with many publicly declaring their affection for Pinterest and calling it "an addiction". With that in mind, put Pinterest on your radar (we'll do the same) and maybe create some pins of your own to see what this platform is all about.
